Hiiiiii there. Ok, let me just be real with you for a minute. I really have no idea what I’m going to talk about today. Not because I’m lacking motivation, or feeling weird, but because I really just don’t have anything new and fresh and off the press currently on my mind. Usually I have like four solid things that I’m just dying to tell all five of you who actually read these!

So, we’re just going to go with it. And sorry if there are some extra typos in here. I believe I am dealing with a pinched nerve – or something along those lines, and I have limited feeling in my right hand. Don’t worry. I have a doc appointment, and I’m not in pain or anything. It’s just hard to do things like….type or write, or hold on to things. I’ve had allllll the typos while texting lately. And I’ve dropped my water bottle (while drinking it) too many times to count. Anyway, we’ll see.

TODAY is the start of my FAVORITE MONTH. Not gonna lie, it has nothing to do with pumpkins or spice or halloween or fall or being basic. No, silly. It’s only because my birthday is this month. I’m not PTL for the colder weather October brings. In fact, give me all the hot sun from July. Now, I’m not one of those ok, everyone STOP WITH YOUR LIFE AND FOCUS ON ME AND MY BIRTHDAY kind of people, BUT I PERSONALLY love celebrating my OWN birthday. You don’t have to take part or anything, for real. But, I take my own birthday very seriously. I feel weird even telling you that for fear of being misunderstood. The best way to describe it is that I’m just thankful I got another year. I also love cake too, and I have no shame on my bday, so that helps! This year I CANNOT WAIT TO BE IN AUSTIN ON MY BIRTHDAY! I told you this last week, but I’ll just tell everyone again..I get to go to Austin to be a part of the Brute Strength Athlete Camp. I get to learn from some people I really look up to. There’s this guy named Sean Pastuch that is going to be there (The Active Life guy). He’s great at giving corrective exercises on instagram. Anyway, I think it will be really beneficial to help me with some of my imbalances. And in turn, help me help other people. Ok, I’m a dork. Anyway, that’s just 1 reason out of like 345673 as of why I’m excited to go to Austin.

Today was the first day of SQUATOBER! Ya know, Squats + October. Get it? You can read all about it here. We’re doing it at CFEC (totally optional) and all I have to say is that my back squat better get better. But based on how squatting felt today… haha we’ll see if that happens. I remember the first day being like, ya know, SO EASY last year. We also did this hero WOD today. We do these every now and then. They are great. Today we did “Nutts.” If you want to read about it, google it. Anyway, we have this thing called Wodify. You track your scores through there. I guess you can go in, and like and comment on other people’s scores. It’s been funny today to see, “insert name here liked your NUTTS.” Ha. Ha. Oh man.

Moving on.. There is something really just GREAT about a Monday and the FIRST of the month on the same day. Mondays are all about getting your ISH together. And so is the start of the month. So there ya have it. Two reasons to get your ISH together. If you like to reflect like I do, you know that the beginning of the month is a great time to reflect on where you’re at, what you can implement in the upcoming month to improve your life, and what you can eliminate to get rid of any excess baggage.

So, if you’re like me…you’re taking the time to do that today!

Here are three things to focus on:

  1. What is one habit/hobby/new idea I can implement this month? (It can be about ANYTHING)

  2. What is something I need to stop doing?

  3. What are 5 things I’m grateful for RIGHT NOW? These 5 things can be as broad or as specific as you want them to be. (This is a great way to finish one month and go into a new month feeling strong, focused, and full -even if not everything is currently sunshine, unicorns, and rainbows in your life).

Ok, without typing too much… I’ll give you an example really fast. Take it or leave it.

  1. Daniel and I are going to try and do a better job about keeping a BUDGET this month. We got to do a lot this summer, and I’m thankful for all the cool opportunities I’ve had. Sometimes we get so “busy” we forget to actually track where our $$ is going. Anyway, I could get all biblical and scientific and cheezy all at the same time, so I’ll spare you from those details as of now!

  2. I’ve come a long way in this, but I want to get better about not second guessing myself. This is pretty broad, I know. And maybe a little personal too. So Ill leave it at that for now.

  3. 5 things I am grateful for leading into this Month (in no particular order): 1. Another year of my life down and the cool experiences I had over the past year. 2. Getting to be a small part in helping people make their life all around better and healthier. 3. Getting to go to Austin this month. 4. The relaxing Saturdays Daniel and I have had the past 3 weeks have been really great. I didn’t know I could sit and do nothing for that long. 5. 1 FULL YEAR post achilles surgery #2, and my right leg feeling better than it has in 4 years.
