Goooooddd Morning 🙂
These giveaways have been so much fun! (And last minute…haha). I really was only going to do one or two (both Born Primitive giveaways) but I’m so thankful my friend, Lindsey gave me the idea to do more last Monday night (the night before the first giveaway!) I didn’t think it would work, but people have been so great!
To be transparent with you, I really thought I would end up paying for all of them, which I was ok with, and so was Daniel. Because ya know, having the opportunity to give your favorite things is cool. However, joke is on me, because when I reached out to a few people and told them what I was doing, they showed me so much love and generosity by either just giving me these items to give away (or helping in another way). It’s definitely impacted me this Christmas. I’ll write more about that – and these wonderful people later!
Today is all about my friend, Kathleen Dew! She is a photographer in the Anderson area, but has mostly done shoots in the Florence area (where she is from). Her husband, Chris is a really great guy too, and he started coming to to the gym I would say about 18 months ago (hopefully I got that one right). The Dews were married a year ago, and Kathleen started coming to CrossFit at CFEC shortly after that. She is so sweet and makes classes fun. She braided my hair one time, and I thought it turned out great. The Dew’s are great people, and the way they love people is so evident. Kathleen has a great eye, and I’m no photography genius, but I love how great she is with lighting (<—I dunno if that’s even how you say it! Haha). She did some pics for my friends Jack and Salem, and their family. I tried to find one that I could share, but you’ll just have to check it out for yourself!
I asked Kathleen if she would be willing to do a mini shoot for one of my giveaways, and she kindly agreed! I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!
You may be like, “Alison – what does this have to do with fitness and having a healthy, great life?” Good question. Haha. I think everyone deserves to feel pretty through pictures. When you get a good photographer (who knows how to interact with you) they can capture some great moments of you, your significant other, your family, your friends, or maybe even just you and your dog. Everyone deserves to look at pictures, and be like “OH MAN, WE LOOK GOOD!” I want for everyone to feel confident in the skin they are in – no matter how they may perceive themselves, what they look like, or where they are at in life.
Confidence in these things is one way to have a healthy life.
To be honest with you, before Kathleen took these pics of me, I wasn’t really feelin’ it (my fault). I ate my weight of good NYC food (including the best brunches, pizza, ice cream, donut ice cream sandwiches, burgers, hard cider, etc). I was like “ha, this is probably a bad idea THE DAY AFTER LIVIN’ IT UP IN NYC!” Anyway, I won’t bore you with more details on that right now (maybe another, later post though 🙂
BUT, Kathleen did such a great job, and made me feel so beautiful! I want for someone else to experience that. Her love for people shines through her camera. For real. Ministry doesn’t have to look like getting up in front of big groups of people, or working for a church. THIS is ministry.
Go to the post on my instagram, and comment on WHO you think should win this mini session. It can be yourself too!! No shame in that. I would be nominating other people AND myself if I were you. Bonus points if you tell me why in the comments or through a direct message. You have until 8 pm (EST) TOMORROW, DECEMBER 20th! So, that’s like 36 hours!
**This includes a 30 min mini session with Kathleen in the Anderson or Greenville area. It can be for you, your family, your friends, or whatever you would like! **
Over the remaining days, I’ve got a few more giveaways, recipes, workouts, and other little tidbits for ya, so hang tight. The purpose is to keep your mind somewhat focused on your health, fitness, and goals in the midst of this fun Christmas season we are in right now! Because you can celebrate Christmas, have a great time with the people around ya, AND keep fitness on your mind too!
