Happy 9th Day of Christmas! AKA Wednesday. AKA HumpDay.

Wednesdays are a great day to treat yourself to a good ole festive protein shake. I mean, Christmas is only days away, and you need energy to get everything done. I obviously need more energy. I almost forgot to post this. 

I didn’t really start drinking protein shakes until last March. Until then, I would just sneak some of Daniel’s every now and then. But I didn’t drink them like I was supposed to. And now, I FREAKING LOVE PROTEIN SHAKES. I wake up excited about protein shakes. Right now, I’m hooked on this SFH brand. I like their basic Pure Vanilla. I switched to SFH for a couple different reasons. 1. It’s cheaper than what I was taking. 2. Their vanilla tastes just like birthday cake. And I love birthday cake. 3. Not many ingredients. Check it out. 4. They say it will make me Stronger Faster Healthier. SFH.

I was pretty stoked about this shake. So excited that I couldn’t decide last night if I wanted peppermint or eggnog. So I went with both. Someone told me about some eggnog alternatives, so I found this Silk AllmondNog. Sugar is low. Calories are low. Fat is low. No eggs. No soy, gluten, etc. for all you people that avoid that stuff. I don’t usually drink any kind of milk, so I don’t know a whole lot about it. Except just don’t drink it. Water only for shakes. But Daniel loves Promised Land Milk, and they have an eggnog milk too. And right now, I’m kicking myself for not getting that instead in his honor. But this Silk brand is a good alternative to your basic nog. And the rum extract makes you think there’s really rum in it. Anywho, I just wanted all of you to know about this. Enjoy it!



Peppermint Eggnog Protein Shake


Makes 1 shake

Prep time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes


  • 3/4 cup ice

  • 3/4 cup SilkNog

  • 1 heaping scoop of vanilla protein powder. I used SFH Vanilla. 

  • 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract

  • 1/4 tsp. rum extract

  • 1 dash cinnamon + more cinnamon for topping (optional)

  • 1 dash nutmeg


  • Mix all ingredients in a Nutribullet or blender. Don’t overdo it on any of those spices. You don’t want it to be too sweet. 

  • Pour in your favorite Christmas cup, and add cinnamon for topping (optional). 


  • If you’re more of an eggnog person, and not so much peppermint, don’t add peppermint extract. Duh. 

  • You can always sub the eggnog out for water, regular almond milk, or regular milk.
