Happy Sunday 🙂 Today has been a beautiful day here in the south. We did some fall cleaning, and I DIDN’T work out. At all. Full out rest day. I haven’t had one of those in awhile. My legs feel like Lieutenant Dan. Or a baby giraffe. I guess that’s normal since I had a competition yesterday, and this past week at CFEC was pretty great. But the crazy thing is, they were sore Monday, and they just kept getting more and more sore as the week went on. That’s some serious DOMS, I suppose. Here’s to hoping I can walk tomorrow.

The competition yesterday was great! It was a lot of fun. I like local competitions because you get to meet a lot of people. And competing with friends is always way better. Marlie did great. We only got no repped a couple times on the synchro burpees (we’re getting better though!) Haha, It was all my fault because I forget what I’m doing. I’m working on being a better team player. More to come later on this week about CrossFit and competitions.

Halloween is coming up. What are you going to be? You better get on that. I need to get my costume. I was so proud of my costume last year. Trap Queen. Only my younger friends got it though, so it wasn’t as much of a success as I saw in my head. So, this year, I’m thinking something basic will be better. 

Ok, here’s a sweet potato recipe that is reeaalllly good. And the best part is it will make your house smell amazing. My mom just got here a little while ago to stay with us tonight. The potatoes were baking in the oven when she got here, and she thought our house smelled delicious. So, it’s great for covering up wet dog smell, which is what our house naturally smells like, without the help of candles that is. Just another reason for you to make them. But for real, I usually just dice potatoes up, throw some coconut oil and pepper on them, and call it a day, so this is great to mix it up a little. Try it out, and let me know how it goes. 


Lemon Garlic Sweet Potatoes


4 Servings

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes 

Total Time: 50 minutes


  • 2 large/3 medium sweet potatoes

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil – melted

  • 2 garlic cloves – minced

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp garlic salt

  • 1 tsp pepper


  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  • Peel and dice up sweet potatoes. 

  • Melt 1 tbsp coconut oil, and pour into bowl. Spread potatoes out over bowl, covering with oil. 

  • Squeeze juice out of lemon (I got 1/2 cup of juice from 1 medium lemon). Remove seeds. 

  • Mix lemon juice, garlic cinnamon, garlic salt, and pepper. Pour over potatoes in bowl. Mix well. Make sure potatoes are completely covered. 

  • Spread potatoes out over baking pan. 

  • Bake 45 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. 


  • Serve as a dinner side, or make several batches to help you get through the week.
