SuPeRbOwL sUnDaY is Here! Who are you cheering for? I’m not ashamed to say that I’m really indifferent. I’m not a huge NFL fan. If anything, I’m team Coldplay + Beyoncé. But I am pretty competitive, so I usually do choose a team to somewhat cheer for. With that said, I’m all for the Carolina Panthers.
Now, more importantly, what kind of food are you going to be eating? I wish I could tell you that I’m going to be sitting at home eating boring celery and fruit. But I’m not. I’m most likely going to eat what I want.

But I did want to throw 2 quick recipes at you really fast. These will help you stay somewhat on track tonight. We’ll be eating them as well. And plus, THEY BOTH INVOLVE AVOCADOS!!!!!!!!

Dan’s Guac (He makes this a good bit.If you know, you know.I asked what he wanted to officially call it, and he said “Dan’s Guac” – Alright, thanks for playing, babe).

Makes 8 servings 
Prep time: 15 minutes. Cook Time: No time at all. 
For best results, make soon before serving. 
  • 4 ripe avocados
  • 2 roma tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/2 onion (diced)
  • handful of cilantro (about 1/4 cup – pulled apart and mashed)
  • 1 small jalapeño (diced – remove seeds if you don’t want it super spicy, like me).
  • 1/2 lime (squeezed into juice)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Cut open avocados, remove pit, and scoop out the good stuff into a medium sized bowl
  • Throw in diced tomatoes, diced onion, pulled cilantro, & diced jalapeño
  • Squeeze juice out of 1/2 lime
  • Sprinkle with 1 tsp garlic salt and 1 tsp cumin
Notes: 1/2 tbsp guac = 1 block on zone. That doesn’t get you very far, I know. 


Dan’s (No Mayo) Avocado Deviled Eggs


This picture was taken from last Sunday after Dan randomly whipped these up in the kitchen. 

Makes 4 servings 
Prep time: 10 minutesCook Time: 15 minutes (for eggs to boil)
For best results, make soon before serving. 
  • 4 eggs (boiled, cut open, with yolks separated)
  • 1 avocado (cut open, pit removed)
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • cayenne pepper (for toppings)
  • bacon bits (optional – we didn’t do it, but it sounds good).
  • Fill medium pan with water. Place 4 eggs in pot, & bring to quick boil. Once water is boiling, turn burner off and cover pot. Let sit for 15 min.
  • After eggs have sat in boiling water for 15 min, put eggs into a bowl of cold water, preferably iced. Let eggs sit for approx. 10 min. or until eggs are cool to touch.
  • Peel eggs.
  • Cut eggs in half (hot dog style, I think??)
  • Separate yolks in bowl and mix with avocado(already peeled, with pit removed). Add 1 tsp garlic salt. Mix well.
  • Top sliced egg whites with yolk/avocado mixture (spread out evenly).
  • Top with cayenne pepper(sprinkled) and bacon (pulled apart into little bits) if you’re feeling extra adventurous
Notes: Feel free to double eggs + avocado to make double the servings.
